The alarming news about the TRA issued on 01 August 2010, confirming that Blackberry Messenger, Blackberry E-mail and Blackberry Web-browsing services in the UAE will be suspended as of October 11th 2010. The suspension is a result of the failure of ongoing attempts, dating back to 2007, to bring Blackberry services in the UAE in line with UAE telecommunications regulations.
A month ago Etisalat announced alternative packages for BB users, but lately as we reached the last 2 weeks before the suspension, we haven't heard anything from the network. Details for the alternative packages are available on http://www.etisalat.ae/blackberry/alternative.html. As one of BB users, I am looking forward for a better solution on this issue.
